Abstract

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Klaten on the topic “Responding to God’s Work of Salvation” through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by E-LKPD. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with 11 Catholic students from class IX F as the research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests and non-tests (observation). The results showed that the implementation of the PBL model could enhance students’ critical thinking skills, as reflected by increased learning outcomes, active participation, and problem-solving abilities. The results from cycle 1 showed an improvement in critical thinking skills in cycle 2 across affective, psychomotor, and cognitive aspects. The average critical thinking skills increased from 78% in cycle 1 to 85% in cycle 2, the psychomotor aspect improved from 86% in cycle 1 to 88% in cycle 2, while the cognitive aspect increased from 81% in cycle 1 to 87% in cycle 2. It can be concluded that the PBL model supported by E-LKPD can improve the critical thinking skills of class IX F students at SMP Negeri 3 Klaten in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Ethics.
